Wife is pushing me to retire... Not retire from work but retire from my current job and start another. I'm dragging my feet but it just may happen. If it does happen I'm thinking it will call for a retirement gun. Something like that 44 Special FA 97 with a 3.5 inch octagon barrel, round butt, and ivory micarta grips. Maybe just a straight up 41 mag FA 83 Silhouette. Pull the right dealer strings and I might do both!

I know you like adjustable sights like I do but after looking at Hamiltons website I'd say go with a fixed sight 44 Special 97 and have him do the gripframe reduction, rebarrel with drift front sight job but SKIP the commander style hammer. Go with nice cared ivories from Persinger to top it off. Dang I LOVE spending your money Stan! ;D

At least I'm not the only one with a tough decision on a Freedom Arms.
When I retired from the Coast Guard I went for a Harley and it was great but It would have been a lot cheaper to have gone for the Freedom Arms. Safer too.

Enough single actions. Have Stroh build you a fine N-Frame 44 Special. I have the proper "parts" if desired.

Now that sounds like an excellent plan.

Those N frame guns with (IMHO) the proper magna shaped stocks just don't fit my hand.. Picked up a TR 45 ACP a few years back.. Loaded that thing up with WW match hardball and I couldn't shoot it for diddly. Thought it might be the ammo or the gun so I pulled out a matching 41 mag I had picked up. Same results. Now I may be rusty but as an old distinguished master class shooter, on the days my eyes are clear, I expect "pick the eyeball" accuracy at 10 yards out of everything. These guns were 10 yard head shooters in my hands.. Traded them both off the next day.. There will be no more.. Think 3.5 inch octagon, round butt, action job, micarta gripped 44 Special FA 97.

Looked over Bowen's FA options.. You boys trying to throw me under the bus or what? A $2200-$2500 package on a $1800 gun? Yeow! Ordering the gun with the FA factory options, 3.5 inch octagon, round butt, micarta grips, and the trigger job look like a much better deal to me..

M97 in 41 mag? Makes a nice little powerful gun. The 41 mag 4.25 FA 97 I own is not much larger than my hand...

Retirement gun? You mean yer s'possed to get another gun when you retire? DANG! I didn't know that. It's been well over a year ... I'd better get busy and decide on something!

Never know where your next excuse is coming from. The itch for a short barrel 44 Special FA is strongest but I know that a 41 mag Silhouette is a bigger and most obvious void in my "set." When I show anyone my 9 inch 357 and 10 inch 22, 32, and 44 all with Silhouette sights I'm always afraid they will ask, "Where is the 41?"

For a special occasion gun, you should get exactly what you lust for. Problem with most of us is that we lust after darn near anything that shoots.
