Beagles + Swamp Rabbits+ Friends,fun

I love to Rabbit hunt in North Alabama,its all about the big swampers and the dogs---have ran one the dogs ;D for over two hours before getting a shot---smart rabbits saw one low-crawling by me once got him---I'm serious HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am in the solid RED

But darn I wish we had rabbits like that around here again........and another pair of beagle dogs to chase them with...............

That really brings back memories. Some of my fondest memories are of running and raising Beagles with my grandfather. We walked many a mile in the swamps of middle Georgia together chasing cottontails and, what he called, swamp buck rabbits. God how I miss that man and the sound of those hounds.

Thanx for this post, memories flooding back I have not thought about in many years.

Now that brings back some memories! I grew up in Mississippi, where this was common as a kid (before we had a deer season). I only participated in one hunt, but it was a lot of fun, listening to those beagles run & anticipating a shot when the rabbit doubled back!

The male swamper usually won't make a circle-he will go all over the country--I have to get in the Ranger to head the pack off to see the rabbit---sometimes I don't even take a shot just let it head to somebody else trying out a Rossi circuit court carbine this year comes with a choke to keep the shot togather better--I HOPE HA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
