I just have time for a few right now: SBH by Gordon Logan, with the usual tuning, jeweling, bead blasting and polishing, with a highly reworked Dan Wesson rear sight to turn it into a precise sighting instrument. This was done years before Hamilton Bowen introduced his excellent Target rear sight. Grips by Lett. 5" 629, Hogue grips: 6 1/2" 629 with very early Ultra Dot. My all-time favorite DA revolver: My first FA, circa 1990: And a super-accurate 6" PG: Gordon Logan tuned, polished & bead blasted BH. Lett grips, Bowen rear, Logan front sight:

Here's an oddball - Dan Wesson44VH There's nothing oddball about a DW 44. I love mine, here's my DW 44 10V...10" barrel + 8" comp barrel. And here's a pair of SA's...both are Ruger 10.5" .44 SBH's.

Since we've brought up the DW subject, I suppose I could include my lil' .445 SuperMag into the fray. Here's my stainless example, the model 7445 V8HS...(breaks down as "Vented 8" barrel Heavy-Slotted shroud). Dang, I just realized something. If this thread was to remain a SA only thread, I apologize for my help in derailing it with my DA entries. I will remove any offending posts & pics.

Well Charger Fan, we already have 10 DA's posted in this thread, so "the damage is done", and for my part, I like it. In fact, even though Lee or Axehandle might give me a few demerits, I'll continue to make it worse by adding a few Big Reds and even Bigger Reds: A Gordon Logan 5 1/2 incher with some tuning, jeweling, polishing and bead blasting. Hi Viz in front; Bowen in rear: Took this one on safari to Zimbabwe in 1990 and later had Gordon upgrade it with the trigger stop, and usual jeweling, polishing and bead blasting: Alright, don't laugh. I mean it now, don't ... stop it! In 1993 I conceived what I thought would be the ultimate cougar, bear, and hog gun. In those days we were still seeing red dot batteries fail, and the sights along with them. These see-through mounts allow immediate use of iron sights, and once you zero that red dot that high above the bore, it shoots FLAT! As a final joke on me, all my bears and hogs and both my mountain lions since then have been taken with other guns. I don't care, I still like it ... I don't care what you say :-) The Bill Snow knife was a retirement present from 7 great friends on this board: A Bigger Red, touched up by Gordon: This 9 1/2" Bigger Red (SRH) has the barrel fluted with 6 tapered "lightening" flutes, with the usual Gordon Logan cosmetic upgrades. Then he bead blasted it with a proprietary media to give it a dark matte finish. This work was done several years before Ruger introduced its "Target Gray", or as Bill Ruger called it "Anti-Corro Terhune" finish, named for Stan Terhune. This .44 is AT LEAST the accuracy equal of any of my FA .44's ... maybe better. A second set of rings carry an Ultra Dot, for when that seems appropriate. Curiously, the finish does not show up in the photo to be as dark as it really is - it's really about the same as a "Target Gray". My photo skills are obviously not of the caliber of Boge, Axehandle or Zeus.

As far as SA vs. DA. I think we all agree that the SA forum is kinda home base for SA.com. Personally, it's the only one I visit so IMHO, DA's are fair game here. ;D Oooh, I like that!

These 2 Super Blackhawks were campaigned hard in Metallic Silhouette matches. I took several head of game with the top one, and beginning early in 1978, competed for several years in both IHMSA Long Range and NRA Hunter Pistol with it, winning my first State Championship in 1979 and numerous club matches in N.C., S.C., and Tenn. I shot it so much that sometime in the early to mid 80's, I sent it back to Ruger to be rebarreled and reblued. I bought the bottom one from a friend who had just won it in a drawing at another N.C. State Championship about 1982. I used it for IHMSA Standing matches for the next several years, winning a number of club matches and another N.C. Championship in 1985. The scratched up cylinder was reblued a few years ago. These old SBH's are wrapped in fond memories and are box stock, to comply with the original IHMSA rules. They won't be for sale in my lifetime. I guess I'm now done talking about "those .43's we call .44's".

I realized I'd only posted photos of .44 Magnums, no Specials. Here's a stainless flattop with a Logan front sight and black micarta grips fitted by Gary Reeder:

Whit, I was just thinking of how nice that tooled table is as well as it's "options". The only thing missing is a little tea in one/both of the glasses.....
Pretty photogenic, you ask me.
