Any one here hunt small game with their sixguns. Does not seem to be a common topic. I have found myself looking forward to squirrel season the past few years more than deer season. I love the time spent in the woods with my rimfire revolvers more than any other time. Could be a middle age issue, but I like it just the same.

I've spent time every year hunting squirrels with handguns since the '60's. Revolvers, single shots, semi autos, scoped & iron sights. It's all been good, and to be honest, I enjoy it about as much as deer hunting.

I squirrel hunt with a Bisley Single Six and a Mark 2 Comepetetion Target with a Pro Point on it. And rabbit hunt with them too. If I ever get the chance to nab a Single Six Hunter im gonna be on it. And yea I really enjoy squirrel hunting almost as much as deer hunting.

I have enjoyed small game for the past 60 years a .22 rifle or a Ruger Super Single Six that I picked up about 1964 or an air gun in .22 caliber. It is never boring and unlike big game I am able to shoot a lot more that just one critter in a season. I have been also used a ruger semi auto pistol for years.
Another advange is I do not have to quarter, debone small game and carry the meat for miles. I do a shirt and pants on the critters and put them in a small cloth bag. A little water to clean my hands and I am good to go.

Would "every chance I get" be an appropriate answer???

Did a lot of squirrel hunting with my S&W M63 when I was in college. A bit of various critter hunting when I lived in Midland and had access to a huge ranch full of coyotes, javalina, j rabbits and the like. The 5" M29 worked fine there. Far more fun than Texas whitail hunting for sure. Hard to find the time now day's though a couple of coyotes have dropped to the 4 5/8" 32 Mag Ruger at my place in Idaho.

As a teenager, I did a lot of squirrel hunting with my revolvers. All my buddies hunted with shotguns, but I was reading too much Elmer Keith & Maj. George C. Nonte at the time. I started with an old Colt Police Positive in 32 S&W L (32 New Police) that my grandfather gave me. After casting and loading thousands of bullets, I got fairly proficient with it. However, I later picked up one of those new-fangled New Model Single Sixes and the adjustable sights made all the difference! I started using it on squirrels & the occasional rabbit almost exclusively. Of course, a lot of those pesky armadillos fell to it as well, but I typically shot them using the magnum cylinder. I also used to take the occasional jackrabbit and tree squirrel with my centerfire handguns when I lived out west, but that was a long time ago.

My blackpowder cap and ball revolvers have sent many turtles, rabbits and dillo's to their maker.
