Well, new to me. Looks like a '58 production according to Rugers website. In excellent condition, but came with an absolutely hideous set of Jay Scott fake(plastic) stags. Anybody have a clue where I might find a set of correct or wood grips? Cant wait to shoot it, now I know why you guys drool over the original flat tops. Adam

Adam, I have a set of VERY nice XR-3 flat top wood grips that would fit your gun. You could have them for $75 shipped which is cheaper than nice hard rubber flat top grips but none of these XR3 grips will be cheap if they are in nice shape.
Let me know,
Robb

Adam,
Congratulations!! I have a few Flat-tops myself and when they are not at the range are kept safe and sound. Just curious....which caliber is your gun...?? .44 or .357??
BTW....kings6 is offering you a GREAT deal on the stocks. If you want a set, don't pass up that offer!
Enjoy and please post some pics!

Bob, It is 357. I have already emailed Rob for his addy for payment!! I did some quick searching the net for correct grips last night and couldnt find anything and then saw Rob's offer. I have paid considerably more for S&W grips, so this was a no brainer!
Thanx to Robb for his offering these grips to me!!

Wouldn't be stock, but if I were you I'd ship the backstrap off to Cary Chapman and let him work his magic. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Very nice flat top! Mine is a 1959 model and came with a nice set of the hard rubber grips. I have been meaning to get some aftermarket grips to keep on it so I don't mess up the collectibility of the stock grips. Cary is an excellent recommendation. I have some of his beautiful walnut grips on my single six.

That's a beauty and those fake stags actually look pretty good on it.
Cary does a great job on the Ruger grips, I have a set of his Holly grips on an old flattop.

Another vote for Cary Chapman. Here's a set he fitted to an Old Model Single Six. Got another pair on a Bisley grip frame on the way back now. This kind of magic!

That revolver would have been sent by Ruger with the black hard rubber grips. If you wish to have it as original you would return the hard rubber grips to the frame.

Don't let JT see those Jay Scott grips... I think he collects them! Cary C does some real magic on XR3 grips without the grip frame. In the original XR3 days Ruger seemed to hold tolerances pretty well..
