Am I ever impressed with the Ruger SRH 480! Hornady XTP 400g at about 1050 fps. This little buck looked like he was hit by a freight train at 57 yards.  |

Hornady and Hodgon both have info available. H110 and Lil'Gun are most popular for full power.
I use Lil'Gun and a 400 gr Lee cast bullet.

Thanks dennyl This was Hornady brass and 15.6g of 2400 with the Hornady XTP Mag 400 grain bullet. Chronographed at 1,036 f/s. (Don't take my word for it - check it against your manuals) The bullet did not exit. I don't remember but I think this is a relatively mild loading and is quite pleasant from the SRH. Quite enough for the deer we have around here. |

As of Monday evening, I harvested #4 for the season. A small buck with 1" antlers.  Not nearly as satisfying as the first three. Killed this one with a 2011 Taurus SHO. Zero penetration... |
