Has anyone here used the press CH4D makes? My Lyman Crusher (the original crusher) is starting to show it's age (as in the ram is starting to wobble a bit) and Lyman said they'd fix it (and I'll probably let them) I am considering a big heavy duty single stage for some of the more odd chores (like the belted .458 wildcat I devised for a Mauser project that never got started but now looks like it may) that may have very well have started to lead to the death of my beloved Lyman

I have known of a few people that have not been happy with CH products. I currently use RCBS Rock Chucker & Big Max, Bonanza, and a Redding. They all work fine but my favorite is the RCBS rock chucker. I use the Big Max for really long cartridges like 475 # 2 or my 338 wildcat. I believe the new RCBS is long enough for most magnum length cartridges. The 458 is relatively short.

I really like my RCBS Rockchucker too... Mine is the original smaller one... When I started playing with the STWs and RUMs I bought a Redding Ultra Mag press... Redding and RCBS make good stuff but IMHO Redding products fit and finish is without peer..

Yeah, I was told the CH press had enough leverage for the tough jobs, and it was long enough for the 50 BMG if I really wanted to shoot it (which I have no desire to do again) but I was really interested in using it as sort of a "special chores press" so to speak for some of the wildcat ideas I have that I know I'm going to have to do some real modifications to the base case to make them turn out how I want them too

Then you may want to think Lee Classic Cast.

I used to have a LEE classic cast, quite honestly, it was well made, did everything I asked it to, and never gave me a problem, but then I started priming on the press to speed things up a little bit for certain cartridges, and it lost me there. I would still have that option wit hthe CH4D and not have to place every primer on the doo dad by hand. I ordered a belt forming die from them today and if I'm impressed wit hthe quality I'll think about orderring the press

Don't know what kind of forming you want to do or what you want to spend, but I use a slightly older version of this corbins.com/prcsp-1.htm . I use them mostly for bullet making but when I want to do some single stage reloading I really like this press. I also have an extra one of these presses that is older without the roller bearings. If you have an interest you can pm me.

No, puts me i nthe same place as the LEE press we were talking about a minute ago, seems like my options are Rockchucker, or the CH4D, or the newer than what I alread yhave but "upgraded" even though I have all of the parts to make mine like the newer one already on the old one Crusher 2
