Looking for an answer from those that know.
I'm considering an SAA clone and would like to know what you fellas would recommend and why.
How do you guys rate the Cimarron Arms to the Berettas and Ubertis. Also are the Cimarron "Evil Roy' and Taylor "Smoke Wagon" worth the extra cash.
Have also looked at Longhorn Shooter Supply. How do you rates these guns?
Sorry , but US Patent Firearms and Colts are out of my budget.

Most Cimarron guns ARE made by Uberti. The Evil Roy is, and it's similar to the Taylor Smoke Wagon. Both are based on the Uberti-branded "El Patron" - all are basically the best guns Uberti can make, and then the Evil Roy gets additional hand tuning.
Cimarron has lately started shipping some guns made by Pietta in Italy, which have a good reputation as well.
I think you mean "Longhunter Shooting Supply" - he's taking the Taylors and hand-working them to about the same level as the Evil Roy, maybe just a bit better and for less money. If you're looking for the best possible Italian gun, he's a solid option.
The Taylor "Running Iron" has the option of a lower-slung hammer, which helps if you're doing one-handed shooting or you shoot "strong side thumbing" instead of "off hand cocking" when shooting two handed.
Berettas are Ubertis that have a transfer bar safety grafted in, which means you can safely carry them loaded "all six" instead of five-up, hammer on the empty chamber with the traditional-action Uberti variants. In my view, give these a skip for two reasons: one, they seem to be a little bit more delicate than the simpler Uberti action they're based on, and two if you want a transfer-bar gun you might as well go with a Ruger and get something much, much tougher. The Ruger New Vaquero is in the same size/heft/feel range as the Ubertis, USFAs, etc. and will fit in the same holsters.

EMF's "Great Western II" series are made by Pietta.
You have to talk about the real source of these things to understand what's going on with them.

I have shot a Cimarron 3-1/2" Sheriff's Model quite a bit. It's accurate, well timed, pleasing to the eye, & has good balance. I think tbey are a good gun. It shot perfect for windage when I got it, but it did shoot a bit low, which was an easy fix. Frank
It is made by Uberti. FV

Thanks for the advice. I'm kinda hooked on the 'Runnin Iron witha 5.5"bbl in 45 Colt.
BUT the unusual grip on the Achemesta II is intriguing!
Thanks again for your help!............................................Ammohead

The one thing I like about Great Western IIs are you can get them with Tru Ivory from the factory.

Ditto. I have never seen a gun manufacturer please their customers as US Firearms does. Not to mention I think they manufacture the finest Colt SAA copy avilable. They more than once bent over backwards to please me on quite a few of their guns. Needless to say I left the factory completely satisfied with the customer service.
