Now that deer season is rapidly approaching, what do you plan on using? What revolver, bullet/load?

Deer season is here for us in CA. Was out early this week but didn't see any bucks. Carried my 45 bisley in a cross draw Mernickle holster. Had 454424 bullets at 250gr and 9.2 grs of unique behind them. Too bad didn't get to use em. But I will be going out again in a few weeks.

My heavily home-tweaked 5.5" Ruger Accusport Bisley in .45LC. As for the load, it's the one I've been posting about: 300gr WFNGC cast from WDWW over 23gr of H110 in Starline brass with CCI 300 Primers. The holster will be a high-ride, strong side that I formed from Kydex that looks a lot like a Mernickle PS6-SA. Some Wal-Mart suspenders will keep it from draggin my pants down.

That look should work like gangbusters!

Moose are members of the deer family, aren't they? .375 JDJ TC Contender. Original factory loads from TC. Now for whitetailed deer it will be a TC Contender Super 16 in 44 magnum. I'll use the 270 grain Speer Gold Dot over a max charge of LilGun powder.

If I get out, I'll just take the 625-6 Mt Gun with WFNGC's @ 900 fps. West side blacktail deer where I go is pretty thick woods and short shots.
Wow, that gets me thinking. It would be way cool to take a deer close in with the Montado that Alan did up for me. Same load, and about 50 fps faster in the Montado.
That Mt Gun has a slow barrel or something. It always posts lower velocities from it's 4" barrel than my Montado with the 3-3/4" barrel. I'm not complaining, though. It's been accurate from the get-go. The Montado threw bullets all over the place until I got it back from Alan. Now it's a tack driver.
What about you, Whit? What's your gun, load, etc?

I am going to open deer season with my Bisley Hunter, topped with an Ultradot 4 on a Weigand base. I will be using factory loads in this gun -- Double Tap's 320 grain WFNs (they run right at 1,350 fps) from the Bisley Hunter. Assuming success with that revolver, then I will move up to my .500 Linebaugh SRH with the same load I used on my Maine moose.

You guys will drop some venison will those guns/loads for sure.
Tomorrow is opening day for west side Oregon general deer season. Not ready, and not feeling well at all. I only went to work because I absolutely had to finish up 6 files by 5pm. I survived with prescription pain killers today (drunk driver/head-on collison when I was 16).
Have a great hunt to anyone who's heading out this weekend!

My wife will be shooting her 475 with a Lee 400 RF over 12 grains of unique for 1060fps.
I'll be using my 38-40 Linebaugh with 200gn Beartooth FPGC over 29.0 of H-110 for 1750fps

planning on using an old model .357 with 140 xtps or my seville or abilene 44 mags with 240 xtps and 22.5 grains H110 on opening weekend. here in tennessee we can kill up to four deer a day all season long so i am planning on getting a 44 special kill with my harton converted old model at some point as well as my lipsey's 44 special. and my gallagher long cylinder 45 colt might get done by the time gun season opens here. we don't really need the meat so i will leave the rifles at home except for thanksgiving this year. i have a scoped 41 mag blackhawk bisley that needs to get in the action as well.

Mostly I'll be using my FA 44 mag, I think. I'll carry it in a Quiet Hide rig. I would like to carry one of my 44 Specials afield a couple of times, but can't find a decent holster for them.
