Clement's Custom Guns has a Notes from David section where he writes: 23. I will no longer offer any services for the Hunter model Ruger SA's. They seem to be plagued with problems from the factory that I cannot fix to my satisfaction.
Does anyone know what problems plague the Hunter models? Thanks, mark

I know of one that had the worst trigger I've ever seen on a Ruger. Other than that, I'm not sure what David is referring to. -Lee www.singleactions.com

I have a Bisley Hunter and it is one of the most accurate factory/unmodified revolvers I have shot.

Me thinks it is the barrel threads in the reciever and just basic alignment issues. I seem to remember having that conversation with him some time way back. He cant recut them square enough. The Hunter has a larger diameter thread in the frame.
Not that these guns dont shoot well. Mine shot extremely well after I firelapped it a bunch.

I had read Dave's comment also & was really curious about what could be different. Didn't know about the thread diff. Thanks 2 Dogs.

It makes sense that the barrel threads would be different. I never thought of that. It also kills my idea to buy a Hunter and find a standard 5.5 inch barrel to replace the 7.5 inch barrel. Mark

Mark:
My guess is you're interested in a more packable sixgun with the longer Hunter-style grip frame. That being so, consider buying a 5.5 stainless .44 Super and switch out the grip frame for a Hunter frame from Brownells...

If not Ruger, then someone like AccuSport releasing these again would make me pretty happy. That model hit collector value fast. Why didn't I buy one when they were new? mark

Indeed...
I've wished many times that I'd bought both a .41 and .44 Accusport Bisley when they were still around. Did manage to muster the good sense to acquire a .45 Colt Accusport Bisley, though!
Let's see now. If you took a blue short barrel Super and mated it to the Brownell's Bisley conversion package, you'd be where you want to be dimensionally, but not of stainless construction... Absent that, I suppose we'll just have to wait and see if Accusport decides to revive the big bore Ruger Bisley line.

If you look around, there are still the stainless 5.5" guns around new for decent prices, unless you want a .44 mag. The one I want.

My local gun store had a 45 convertable for some time. I do check Gunbroker often and I see the many 45's and 357's. Of course, I want a 44. Not too long ago one appeared in the classified's at the Ruger forum for a good price. Again, I was late. Mark

I have a 44 mag Acusport listed on specialty pistols right now along with a 45 bisley hunter. I've had a few inquiries, but no commitments. The 44 is a shooter, the 45 is NIB. I wasnt too sure what to ask for them. Never sold a gun on GB, so I was trying to determine what was a good asking price on them.
You guys have any input.
Also have a set of convertable buckeye's listed. The price should be great on them, but havent got the 1st question on them yet.
