Well, along with my 45 Colt and 454 revolvers, I have 3 32 H&R mag and 1 327 Federal mag revolvers. I like the little 32 caliber and it makes a nice, small frame gun for close-in varmints, edible small game, target shooting or even self-defense in a pinch. Boge posted a beautiful 32 with custom touches by Alan Harton and it was the inspiration for my 32 Vaquerito with matching 45 Colt Montado. They are among my favorite guns. I might not pay extra for the John Wayne version of this 32, but it is a good gun. Just watched The Shootist 2 nights ago; one of my favorite John Wayne movies. I don't know if this is heresy, but I bet JW could have taken those hacks in the bar just as easily with this 32 as his 45.

Very nice looking piece! However, a big miss on the 32 H&R...why not just chamber in 327 to begin with? Too bad.

My 19 y/o Probable Future Daughter-in-Law. For some reason JW was brought up in conversation recently and all I got from her was a blank stare. I suppose this means I really AM getting old... Your boy needs to wake up to what a huge red flag this might be, and tread carefully. Hey, if she's willing to put up with his early-20s machismo and get him out of the house, I can live with a few little faults...

But really it is a fine revolver. I'm just glad that there willing to make such a gun. The JW thing. Well I'm a fan. Other thing is JW colts or Winchesters do seem to hold there own. Don't get me wrong it was mind I would shoot it.

Very nice looking piece! However, a big miss on the 32 H&R...why not just chamber in 327 to begin with? Too bad. Not sure if Ruger will ever do a 327 Single-Six. The large frame 5.5" Blackhawk was OK, but most of us are hoping for an adjustable sight Single-Six (6.5" barrel would be ideal). Maybe in time. I was about to convert a 32 H&R I recently picked-up to 327. Damn thing shoots so well though, I left it as is (well sort of....it got a Bisley hammer, has been hard-chromed, and will be getting high figure walnut grips). -Lee www.singleactions.com

However, why the 32 H&R mag? It couldn't have been for nostalgia. So just chamber it in 327 and customers have a choice of which ammo to use. In my humble opinion it was a missed opportunity on behalf of Ruger.

I don't mind the JW signature on the barrel, but the brand is a bit much. Didn't the Duke carry a 32-20 Colt or am I mistaken? If he did, the 327 mag would have been the correct caliber with modern ballistics. If the Duke carried this gun it would have been a hideout gun to go with his regular shooter. I have always liked the Birds Head gripped guns. I have 3 Vaqueros in 45 Colt with 3.75 inch barrels. I would like to have seen Ruger come out with a Birds Head Montado and a 45 Colt New Vaquero with a 4.6 inch barrel. I would also like to see Birds Head grips on the 4.6 inch barreled flattops too. Did I say I like Birds Head Grips? I understand that you either love them or hate them. I think Eagle Gunfighter grips would improve handling. The factory BH grip is too fat for such a small sized grip. I would also like to see the SBH or Montado hammer offered as a factory option too. While I'm telling Ruger how to design and market their guns I would like to see the Vaquero and New Vaquero line with adjustable sights as an option while retaining the rounded topstrap of the NV, something along the lines of a Vaquero or New Vaquero with adjustable sights as done by Alan Harton or Jim Stroh. I think Ruger should offer both size frames in fixed and adjustable sights. That's not asking too much is it? While we're at it I think Obama and the Congress should mandate that Ruger produce all these different models and subsidize Ruger for the models that don't sell as well. I think it would stimulate the economy much better than outlawing incadescent light bulbs and forcing everyone to subscribe to some version of Obamacare. Yes, I know that I'm being absurd with this last idea. I'm just trying to have a little fun with my wallet suffering from Obamanomics.

I get close to 1200 fps from my 3-3/4" barreled Single Six, WW296 and the Hornady 100 grain xtp. Me, too, but I got tired of waiting for something that might not ever come, so I sent my Montado to Alan Harton. You and I are on the same page. 32 HRM w/ 3.75" bbl, Bisley hammer, S&W rear sights, etc, etc... 45 Colt Montado w/Birds Head grip frame, S&W rear sights, etc, etc...

While it's already on some good platforms, I think it would sell well on a Single-Six. -Lee www.singleactions.com

I'd be happy with a 7rd mid-frame 327...esp. with BH grips.

dougader: Those Birds Heads are great. I have 3 Birds Head Vaqueros that are in desparate need of the attention of Mr. Harton. These are the larger frame size. I would like them all to be fitted with SBH hammers, adjustable sights and an action job. One I would like converted to a 5 shot 480 Ruger with a 4.6 inch barrel to go with my 92 in 480 Ruger. I would also like my SBH with 4.6 barrel converted to a 6 shot tight chambered 45 Colt. I would also like the topstrap of the SBH to be given a more rounded appearance and a flattop style rear sight without the wings. I'll be shooting you a PM for some general info.

John Taffin wrote that John Wayne had one Colt that chambered what appeared to be the 44 Russian. Seems he had a few guns and holster rigs.
