DAMN that's a sweet piece. Have somebody upgrade it to 327 and whoa.

Hmmmm, I just cannot picture the Duke actually using that mouse phart caliber in a gun with that smallish grip. He did have very large hands.
Wait ...... I know, it would have made a great paper weight in his office.
Ruger .......... strikes out again.

Well yeah, screw the markings. Hell, I'd be tempted to polish 'em off. But the core gun? Very cool and potentially a real "street creature" in 327.

I like the caliber, I like the base (and the markings can be removed as already stated) but I'm not a fan of the bird's head grip. The two I've had over the years did not agree with my hands...

Well...look at it this way. Ruger appears to be more willing to abandon the keylock, at least in some cases. That in turn will give them more flexibility in grip frame types. This grip frame should be an option on the NewVaqs.
And actually, the BH of this sort fits my hands very well, and I suspect should work great with any other "pinkie under" shooter like me.

I think it's a beautiful sixgun. In fact, I had Jeff get this one ordered for me (he picked out the serial number), and he wasn't planning to do an article until he saw the gun.

I am glad to see Ruger offering a wide array of products to suit many differnt customer's needs & desires. Nope, I don't gush over each and every new model, but I'd rather see them making a wide selection of guns available rather than narrowing down their line up I know a lot of savvy outdoorsmen that carry .32s for kit guns and who doesn't like the Duke?

and who doesn't like the Duke? My 19 y/o Probable Future Daughter-in-Law. For some reason JW was brought up in conversation recently and all I got from her was a blank stare. I suppose this means I really AM getting old...

Joe I for one am glad to see Ruger chambering there single six in centerfire again, I really like the small framed guns like the single six, and model 97. Ruger's new management seems to be trying to make new single actions something most everyone else has stopped doing.

awp101, Future DIL needs to be educated about John Wayne BEFORE she becomes the DIL. NO excuse for a lack of bringing up on her parents part. I've well over 100 JW movies. I'd tie her to a chair, tape her eyes open and play 'em all till she liked 'em. ;D bigbores, I'm thrilled Ruger is making all these single actions for us. I've owned Ruger SAs since the early 1970s and quit paying attention to what they were offering until last year or the year before when they introduced the flat top in .44 Spcl. Now I'm paying attention again. It's just that putting John Wayne all over a gun of this format is kinda silly in my view. Nothing against the gun itself. Joe

I would liket to see the birdshead available in the new Vaq...with a bisley hammer and 3.5:" barrel! I like the birdshead(unless using heavy loads) and have large hands. It does conceal much better.

What we really need is a REAL Ruger "custom shop". Order your gun, grip frame, hammer, sight options, caliber(s) from a menu.
