Does anyone hunt with theses? Are they big enough for black bears? I have a bear getting into my cow feed. I drop a nice 8 point whitetail with my FA97, but the deer was just 20yds away. I was using 170 grain sierras and 18.8 #9. I thank next time I will use 210XTP's or a good LBT style cast bullet.

They sure are big enough for black bears. I'd go heavier than 170, tho.

Never taken bear with a 41 but if I did, I'd probably opt for something a little heavier. Maybe a 265 grain WFN. Not saying you can't drop then with 210s, but big hardcast slugs are tough to beat. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Wayne Boscowitz of Foggy Mountain Guide Service has used a 41 mag for years on black bears. I believe his load is the Remington 210 gr. JSP. He has killed "a pile of bears" with his.

I have hunted with the .41 Mag, the 170 Sierra is great for Deer that's the bullet I use for Deer too. The .41 is heavy enough for Black Bear, but I don't think the 170gr Sierra is. I would use a good hard cast220gr SWC or a 220gr jacked soft point, not hollow point, you don't want too much expansion & not enough penetration. Good luck, you'll do fine with your .41Mag. just use a heavier bullet. Frank
