I was fortunate to make a deal with a gent out east on what looks to be a lightly used Virginian Dragoon. I have a Deputy chambered in .45 Colt and have been thinking I was "needing" a longer barreled gun with adjustable sights...this one looks like it's right up my alley. I really enjoy .357s Any idea as to when this one was manufactured...perhaps an early gun? Bob

Nice piece. Those old Virginians were very well fit single-actions. Based on the serial number it would've been from early 1977. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Thanks guys. I will get to use my pin gauges when it arrives. Being an early gun, it may not be as well "tuned"/tweaked...but heck, it's purdy on the outside!
I graduated H.S. the year before this gun was manufactured!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's a good shooter.
We'll soon know.

I need to get a Virginian. Always been impressed with how stoutly built they are.

I got the pin gauges in the cylinder holes today...all six were a nice snug .361
The barrels looks smooth. The gap is nice and snug. The cylinder holes look smooth and shiny...
Could it be that this one slipped through "Quality Control" with out rough cut cylinders & bore? It's darn near as tight as my USFA Rodeo!
The trigger pull is 5 lbs - 5 oz....but not horrible. The firing pin WHACKS the primers....drives right into them~~!!
I'm pretty happy with this revolver.

Bob - Nice find.
Those are some of the better single action revolvers I've run across. The trigger can be smoothed up. I think you will like and enjoy it.
