Once a year I set the revolvers aside & get out the XP100 in 223 Improved & I do my best to make life miserable for the many, many rock chucks in the area. This gun has taken a pickup full of them! ;D Last week while Ken Oneill was here I managed to drop it in the dirt, today after several days of rain I finally made it out to the range to check things out. The gun was shooting 2" left at 100 yds but right on for elevation. I like to zero at 200 yds. My load is a stiff one, 29.6 grs of H335 & a 50 gr. Nosler BT, can't remember the velocity right now but its a little screamer & has been the cause of many funerals in the rock chuck community. This group is actually a little bigger than normal when conditions are good, its measures .383" for 3 shots. I had to use my cartridge box for a rear bag since I forgot the rear bags. My gunsmith son built the pistol for me. Dick

Beautiful bolt pistols I have one Anschutz Exemplar XIV .22LR Another thread of amazing and gorgeous tools (mostly!). Salvo, is there a reason Anschutz moves the front sight rearward aprox 4" (guessing there)? Does it have to do with IHMSA rules on sight radius or such, or is there another rationale? I would think we'd want all the sight radius we could utilize, but that type of shooting is something I know little about. Axe, I must admit that Wichita 308 is one of the strangest and homliest tools you've ever posted. I didn't know you had any that odd lookin'. Max. (modified to correct blatant idiocy in my post - changed "rear sight" to "front sight"

I'm not entirely sure maxcactus, I figured Anschutze kept the same sight layout as the 10" to save money? It would make more sense to move the front sight and take advantage of the longer sighting plane. Maybe ihmsa80x80 has the answer.

The rules for Unlimited silhouette guns sets a maximum sight radius of 15". When Anschutz came out with the Exemplar, it was the shorter 10" barrel version, and in fact, they designed it to fit the Production category rules. Later, due to demand from silhouette shooters, they came out with the Exemplar XIV for Unlimited category competition. Turns out the sight radius on the 10" gun was right at the maximum already, so their solution was to just make the barrel 14" and not change the sight mounting locations. It did save money, but it looks different. One could mount the front sight at the end of the barrel, but you would have to relocate the rear sight on the forward receiver bridge to maintain the maximum 15" sight radius. This is what was done on my Calfee built Exemplar, which started out as a 10" gun.

This is the 1st gun I ever built . The bolt came out of a Remy 600 since there were no big bolt faces in XP's in the late 70's when I built this gun . My hunting load
