What engine and transmission does it have. Has it been modified? Please don't take this wrong but are you comforatable seating in it? The 2a,3a,3b and cj5 are not known for there leg room. I am 6'2 and my 3a is tight.

Watch out for the jacked up big tire versions.. Within limits they can be okay but in my book the closer to stock the better.

I have been a Jeep tech since 87 CJ 5's 7's and all 3 generations of Wranglers...... you dont want my opinion. But unless you are up on all the crap some idiot can do to a Jeep, closer to stock the better.

Well, fellas, I ended up spending a little more and buying a '94 Wrangler. I decided I needed something that would (hopefully) be dependable enough to drive daily, didn't require this n that fix-up work (wiring and such), and didn't require me to change out the steering column to squeeze my fat a$$ in there!
I'm happy with what I ended up with, Jeff found it for me this morning.
Thanks to all for the advice.

'65 CJ-5. I've had it since late '67. It's been "modified" a wee bit. This weekend it'll be getting a new GM Performance Parts 350! Carl PS Were you asking about old Jeeps or Old Jeep Owners?

Wrangler? Yuppie Jeep? Oh no! Say it ain't so! I've been tempted myself. Passed on an '87 just a short while back. Decided that if I was going that modern I'd pass on the Yuppie Jeep (YJ) and go to the '97-'06 coil spring TJ for the (relative) additional highway ride comfort.. For my tastes I prefer old school mechanical beasts. The more modern underhood trappings are just a bit to complicated for my simple mind. CJ5s and CJ7s are a much better fit.

Yuppie Jeep??? LOL!!! Those are still pretty good Jeeps Boge,BUT I can still give a yard long list of ways to destroy them. If it has a 2.5,just accept it for what it is, aftermarket will never make it a power house. If it has a 4.0,the only way you can hurt them is to run them out of oil or overheat them,DO NOT OVERHEAT IT!!! Oil leaks are normal at the oil pan/rear main seal and sometimes valve cover and with time the head gasket will start to seep enough to collect dust. One other thing if it has a 5 speed dont run it low on oil, will wipe out the $1,200 input shaft. Have fun and enjoy.

Beware the Trailer Queen.... That term can have multiple meanings.. One meaning infers pristine show quality. A second meaning means that a trailer is the only way it can move down the road.

Yep. But it IS purty, and it will do for what I need. It does have the 4-banger, but it's enough.
