Looks like the trigger guard and grip frame are seperate pieces. I agree with Lee on the #5 thought. Something like a Power #5 grip frame with an appropriate set of grips would really make it stand out!

Something like a Power #5 grip frame with an appropriate set of grips would really make it stand out! It's just a regular two piece grip frame, though the back section is unusually contoured. The screws holding it in place are accessible only after the grip is removed....much like a #5. I, too, like the #5 grip frame. I've been through half a dozen TLA's and there are a couple of the unfinished Power's versions for Rugers sitting in a box nearby. I also like the funky grip on this gun. It's largely the reason I bought it. It'll remain unchanged. But, I agree, a #5 grip frame on a regular flat-top target would be nice.

Your pictures are so much nicer than the auction. Had I seen pics like that, I would have never shared the link. I agree with the others - that configuration with a #5 grip frame would be wonderful.

Seems to me like swapping out the grip frames would defeat the whole purpose.

I passed on that Omni Target because it wasn't EXACTLY what I was seeking (a CCH 4-3/4" 44 Special), but I wish I had compromised and bought that 45, as it looks like it will be easier to find a black homosexual Republican unicorn than it will be to find that 44.
I made the same compromise last year on a Flattop Target - I was looking for a 4-3/4" CCH 44 Special (dern you, Cubrock!), and bought a 5-1/2" Blued 45 from Jack Fowler. I took that Flattop Target to the Shootist Holiday a couple weeks ago, and as I spent some quality time with it I fully realized the folly of passing on that Omni Target.
Friends, learn from my mistakes.

I would shoot it for a while before I would do anything after all it's only going to see standard velocity loads anyway. I do know one thing if that gun were a woman I would marry it. That front sight is exicuted beautifully. One of the nicest stock guns I've seen. Is the action as nice as the visual?

I tried to order one a couple of years ago from USFA. A 38 WCF with a 5.5 barrel was my wish. Never heard a word until they announced were not building anymore. Gun tinkerer at the local gun store did get a short barrel 44 Special. Very nice, but, of course, he will not part with it.

Seems to me like swapping out the grip frames would defeat the whole purpose. Agreed, but I was opining how nifty it would be for USFA to produce a Number Five-ish Flattop Target, rather than changing the Omnipotent. I'm actually surprised they haven't done it.

That would be a very cool offering, and I think they'd sell all they could make. But whadda I know?
By the way - that Bisley hammer on KAP's Omni Target is neat - I like it better than the Omni hammer.
