patdaddy ......... even though I haven't followed Lipsey's recent releases that closely, I have to assume the gun Lipsey released that you want to convert is Ruger's New Model (med frame) BH Flat-top .45, and in that case you don't have much of a choice, unless you can find a nice used SS AcuSport Bisley Flat-top .45, where now all you'll have to do is change the sights and base pin, and .... walla! Now there will be no need to go with the #5 grip frame (unless you prefer the subtle difference in the feel of the #5), or the low slung hammer spur modification, . However, I'm not absolutely certain the AcuSport Bisley was built on the medium .357 New Model frame? Now thinking back on it, Ruger offered it in .44 mag and .45 colt, so it is the heavier framed SBH not the NM. I'm sure somebody will chime in to clarify this, but I'm quite positive it's the larger frame.
On another note, if you'd consider the larger framed SBH, you may want to look at gunbroker.com, or the RF to find a BH Flat-top Bisley .45, again limiting yourself to less changes at less cost. There's four (4) of them (2 blue - 2 SS) reasonably "buy now" priced between $488. and $519. As you know, the #5 grip frame was essentially copied by Ruger for their Bisley models, and it's "purty dern close" in look and feel to Elmer's #5 SAA, so that might be a way to go as well. You'll probably get contacted by some SAF members with available parts to help you with the modification. Ultimately, whichever route you take to achieve your final goal, it should end up being a sweet wheel gun.
Good luck, and let us know what direction you decide to take.

I think patdaddy is heading toward an old model .357 sized, medium framed .45, as opposed to the larger (Super) frame size, on which the Accusport Bisleys were built. And the #5 grip frame is just different enough to be... well... different.

Decisons.. Decisions... New/Old/Large/Medium/#5/Bisley Sounds like fun to me! FWIW While I don't have a Power #5 I do have a few other #5s and quite a few Ruger Bisleys. Now all that really matters is how the individual holder perceives the grip but IMHO the #5s I have seen and held look kind of like a Ruger Bisley from accross the room but they do not feel the same in my hand. Check out the angles and contours in the pics... Clements NM #5 Clements OM #5 TLA #5 Reeder #5

hey axehandle where are the toes? if you have smallish hands, the ron powers gripframe will fit. i have smallish hands and can get all my fingers on the number five grip frame without putting my pinky on the bottom of the gripframe. those four guns feel kinda like a bisley but different enough to me that one of the bisley 44 special blackhawks wouldn't do it for me i had to have a number five. if i get time next week it is going to go out for some elk antler stocks.

tek ......... love the CCH on your flat-top! Once you install the Biz grip frame & low slung thumb cocker, are you takin' the conversion any further? In any case, I think it will definitely give it a better look and feel.
Curious to know, did you and axehandle go to the same "school of photography", I have to ask because I see some foot action in the bottom of your photo. Are shoes and toes considered props? I didn't know that. Musta missed that class.
Anyway, all fun aside, the guns posted by you and the axe man, are some really "good lookin" shootin' irons! Post some pix when it's completed.

Edit ... kings6 ... the two #5 (Bisley's) you posted above are significant additions to the beautiful customs already posted by the other "show offs".
It's stuff like this however that encourages people like me to get excited about going the "custom" route, so I want to thank all of you for posting pics of your beautiful and diverse gun collections. Keep 'em comin'!

Want to be teased some more? ;D The upper gun is a TLA 41 Mag that Alan Harton just finished putting together form a box of TLA 41 parts and the lower gun is a 41 Mag/41 Special by some guy in TN.
