People here in Va., ask me why do I need a 475L to hunt deer and bears? I do not really have a good answer. I have thought about selling it, but the gun is so accurate. It is a FA 475 with a 5 1/2" barrel. What would you all do? I do kinda need the money. I have a 41 and 45 colt that would probably work on the deer and bear.

I would say unless you really need the money or looking for cash to get something else ( always a legitimate reason for me ;D) I say keep it. A 475 can always do what a 41 or 45 can do, not true the other way around.

razor, If you EVER plan to hunt away from home or chase anything bigger than deer and blackbear, you'll wish you'd have kept it!!! Unless you REALLY REALLY need the cash, I'd sell something else first before selling a proven accurate SA revolver. Can ya work a little OT or skip a few meals? If not, I'll get in line behind Len!!! Stump OR... You can sell me your 45 and Lee your 41 and you'll have all the reason you need to keep the 475. That way you can tell your friends that it's the only revolver you have. (Just trying to help)

Axe is still dizzy from the stretch frames Reeder has him drooling over! He's trying to figure out how thin a man can stretch....
BTW...I say sell it...if you gotta ask you may just need something new...you can always buy a 475 later...

Slipping? Dang man! I slipped down the 475 slope way back! Sitting here with two Premier Grade 475 FAs, a Gallagher 475, and looking for a 475 Nimrod to arrive this week. Not even adding the 475 bore Ruger to the count..

Ask them if anyone really needs a 7mm or a 300Win Mag to do the same type of hunting? Then tell them your 83 its a very nice hunting rig that just happens to be chambered in a very effective round.

I like axehandles idea. I need a 500L to go with it. I am going to keep it. It is the most accurate SA that I own. I always regrett selling a good SA. Thanks everyone for the good advice!

That right coast is a waste. Well you could always let them know the reason is because you don't have a .500L. Keep the gun and get rid of the non shooters first.

The .475 is THE bear buster SUPREME! And, you can load it down (or not) to shoot groundhogs! Deer will not walk away from it either.
On the other hand if a man needs the money, he's gotta do what he's gotta do ... but I MIGHT look at selling one of the others. In the end, your tough decision.

Razor,
I would tend to agree with axe, you need 500 to get a pair.
Yes the reality is you can do about everything with the 45 Colt. Even in a SAA platform. However, the big guns can simply do the same far easier with less fuss, and far more if you want to.

People would say to me about my 500 Linebaugh, "Don't you think that's a bit of over kill, a .50 cal for deer?" My answer was always, "If shooting them with a .72 caliber 12ga slug wasn't over kill, a .50 sure can't be."
