Anyone have any experience with Taylors products? Am I correct in assuming they are a re-branded Uberti? Regardless, this one caught my eye with the wide spur hammer, wide trigger, and short barrel. www.longhunt.com/taylor/runniniron.htmNot sure the work they perform is worth the $200 over what I can get a stock one for from my dealer.

It's basically the Uberti El Patron model with a shorter hammer spur loosely equivalent to a SuperBlackhawk hammer. SASS recently legalized this sort of affair and the Running Iron is one of the first Italian sources.

That'd be a great carry gun. Uberti makes guns for a lot of distributors. The Cimarron guns are really nice. That one looks very nice. Frank

If you buy Uberti's best possible gun under their brand name, it's an El Patron. Uberti's best under the Taylor's name is either a Smokewagon or Running Iron depending on options (mainly barrel lengths and hammer type). Uberti's best by Cimarron is the Evil Roy, possibly some others in the Cimarron catalog too. The Evil Roy gets additional hand tuning stateside by Cimarron gunsmiths so it's not quite the same critter as the best Taylor's. I personally think the best Uberti you can own, period, end of discussion is either of the Taylors as tuned by Longhunter: www.longhunt.comThese are cheaper than a Cimarron Evil Roy and I suspect as good or better. I've never heard a bad thing about Longhunter, ever, period. Part of what he's doing of course is "gambling" a little: some specimens will need more work than others, and a few will be rejected and returned to wherever they came from before a customer ever sees 'em. He does Rugers and others too. When you factor in the shipping price to/from a gunsmith if you hire one after buying a gun on top of the whole "weeds out birth defects" thing, he's a fantastic deal.
