Looking for an old post; by bogequinn on Aug 2, 2009; Deals with the refinishing of a Uberti Revolver; have an 1871, that I shot with pyrodex loads; Hogden said to use vinegar and water to clean; well, clean solutin took the finish off so am looking for some way to 'refinish'. Came across the above post on a google shearch, but the "before" and "after" pictures did not show.
Lesson learned; keep vinegar out of cleaning solutions....
Help!!!

I always use vinegar to strip the blue off my revolvers prior to having them reblued........... It works great!

Darrell,
Welcome to the Forum!
I switched servers earlier this year, so many of my old pics are gone. I still have them, however, and would be happy to upload them again. Can you copy the link to my old post? I'll upload the pics to the same folder where they were before so they'll show-up properly in the original post.

Boge, that looks great added a hundred years in an evening. The screw heads were a nice touch too. We always strive to keep from buggering up screw heads, but like you said they didn't have a nice set of Brownell's scredrivers or Peacemaker Specialists screwdriver. Thanks for sharing. Now a nice UAFA Rodeo,,,,,,,,, Hmmmmm. Frank

That was a lot of fun, messing up a sixgun like that. I've spent my life trying to keep from getting a scratch on one, attacking one like that made for a fun evening. Plus, it really enhanced my appreciation for that sixgun - it was just another gun in the safe, now I take it out often.

I always wanted to try that Boge. Maybe I'll get the nerve to try it on one of my Ubertis.

Looks great; unfortunately, mine looks like a bare metal with a few blue splotches. Gonna have to remove the remaining blue on the bbl and cylinder and start over. FORTUNATELY, I took off the ejector housing an spring, so just need to re do the bbl. Any one have any experience with this guy? www.metallicfinishes.com/Talked to him on the phone; he was VERY helpful. Think I'll give it a shot. check him out. Thanks in advance..... I always wanted to try that Boge. Maybe I'll get the nerve to try it on one of my Ubertis. I's have never been able to do it to a "pretty" one - but this Rodeo I got for cheap and decided to have some fun. It's now my favorite "clone" sixgun.
