Are they worth owning/shooting? Is there anything special about a 44mag with "We the People 1776-1976" engraved on the grip frame?
Thanks.

Well, I did what I should have done before I posted this - used the search button.
There's a good bit of info on these here. I just might pull the trigger on one that my LGS has had laying around just for diversity's sake.
Of, course if anyone would like to share more info on these, it will be appreciated.
Thanks to all and this great forum

I don't know if I can educate you about the Virginian Dragoon but I can talk about the one that I own. It is a Stainless 6 1/2" fixed sight model and it is a very well built and accurate gun. The one that I have locks up tighter than most of my other single actions and it is a pussycat with 44 specials When they show up around here they are usually between 300 and 400 dollars, a local shop has a blued 7 1/2" 44 with adjustable sights for $300, if it was a 45Colt it would be mine.

"It’s also rumored that the Midland plant produced a few fixed-sight Dragoons from 1976 to late 1977. Though they were listed on the Interarms price sheet, I’ve never actually seen the fixed sight variation." This quote is one for you to pay attention to, sOtherngunner. It's from Lee Martin's article that he provided a link to.

Don't much about them but saw one last Sunday at a local gun show. It had the 6-1/2" barrel, adjustible sights and stainless steel finish. The owner had it housed in a nice leather holster (no belt). Asking $500 which I believe was negotiable.
Probably should have made a run at it but got sidetracked
Oh well.........
