Without looking at my book I think the are dimensionally the same except for length so I would think so. Problem is the 45WM runs about 6000 cup higher then the 45 Colt Ruger only loads.

As Rigby said you'll be limited to 30,000 PSI. Might as well stick with the 45 Colt at that point.

I have a 45 Colt conv that someone converted the ACP cylinder to 45 WM so I know it can be done - but I would not use it unless I had a supply of 45 WM brass to load with lighter loads. I would not make the conversion if it were I.

You can make loads for the 45 Colt that will do everything that is needed with a pistol... and shoot relatively cheap and plentiful 45 ACPs out of the other cylinder... If you need more power have a 5 shot 45 Colt made.

Plus the 45 Win Mag is rimless, so crimping can be problematic (it headspaces off the mouth). As others have suggested, stick with the Colt for heavy stuff and the ACP for cheap plinking. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Appreciate the responses. I have quite a supply of 45 Win.Mag brass but have a cylinder for my Freedom Arms in tht caliber so I'll stick with that and leave the 45 ACP cylinder as is.

A number of years ago one of the distributors was closing it out and I bought a case of something like 4,500 pieces for around $300.00 and change. I've used it in the Contender and the Freedom Arms and found it to be an impressive round. Doesn't do anything a number of other rounds can't do but its something different.

Sporting Arms Inc. was the first to chamber the 45 Win Mag in a revolver. This one is from 1981: -Lee www.singleactions.com
