Just perfect. Like all of Hamilton's work that's a real piece of art. Thanks for posting pictures of it.

Well, I had some other thoughts, but decided to compliment you, and Hamilton, on a nice piece of work. I like shooters, even better when they have been custom made/worked over. So, I ask, why a 5 shooter in that caliber on that frame? ...and the third screw head above the trigger? Nice grips too!

It will handle loads that will maximize the performance of the 45 Colt cartridge. I would say that heirloom quality shooter will last for many generations of shooters.

So, I ask, why a 5 shooter in that caliber on that frame? ...and the third screw head above the trigger? Nice grips too! I believe the third screw is to stabilize the bolt to compensate for the metal removed when the cylinder window was opened. I chose the Ruger frame because it's strong, the bisley gripframe because is's comfortable, and the .45 colt because it's versatile, components are readily available, and inexpensive. If I did another I'd make it exactly the same way, perhaps in 475 or 500, but probably in 45 Colt again. I have a few USFA flattop targets and really like the look. I was looking to capture that look in a gun that was capable and comfortable with big 45 loads.

The extra screw is the screw that is attached to the bolt bearing block that Hamilton likes to use on the 5 shot conversions. The block helps take the "play" out of the bolt if any exists at all anyway. As far as the frame goes, the Ruger frame is the most customized frame that I know of. Don't really understand the questions that you ask the original poster. Its a nice sixgun and to be honest, if you have to ask much about this one then you really won't understand anyway. The 5 shooter in 45 colt is a very strong and useful sixgun. It will hang in with the 454 and with the bisley gripframe, its not unpleasant to shoot.
NICE SIXGUN MIKE! Thanks for sharing!

Hey Mike, a truly beautiful sixgun. Dont see enough 5 shot 45's. I think it is a under rated conversion. Unless you are going after Cape buffalo or big bears on a consistence bases its more then enough.

I just wish the skills of the photographer were matching the skills of the gunsmith! I know Bowen's work and Turnbull's colors always pop so nice. Take some pictures outside in softer light and it will look much better without the flash off the frame.
The choice of a 5 shot 45 colt is a wise one, you can step up match a 454 with heavy bullets or run light plinkers in the same gun. The only place a 45 colt gives anything to the 454 is with light bullets and a gun like this is not at its best with a 250gr bullet running 1900fps (but you should easily get close). You would be hard pressed to prove advantage on game if it was in 475 or 500 and there is certainly a big advantage when running light everyday loads in it. Running a standard 250gr bullet at 825fps is pure joy in a gun like this.
Lovely gun.

AWESOME gun Mike. I really like the simplicity and ruggedness with the rear sight.
I do not own any 5 shot 45 Colts, but do believe that if there ever was (god forbid) a "one gun" choice, that would be the one. I have and enjoy some 454's but believe the 5 shot 45 Colt to be a little more versatile. And those grips....WOW!

I have always wanted a 5 shot 45. Don't really see how you could beat this one. Did it take along time to get the conversion done? Like the man said, the componets are cheaper than the 475 or 500. Thanks for sharing the photo's.

Dont see enough 5 shot 45's. I think it is a under rated conversion. I agree with Rigby. and as others have stated.......Great looking custom! Love the "flattop" and drift adjustable sight. JMHO, while the cost of a 5-shot 45Colt conversion is the same as a .475 or .500 conversion.......... The 45Colt conversion is a much more affordable conversion to feed. I reckon' it will probably get shot more often than most of the larger bore conversions. Mike, is there any chance you can post a pic of the top strap from above? Thank you, c.r.
