All the pics lately of bikes, hot rods and such got me digging and reminiscing. Axe mentioned he liked Jeeps too so I thought I'd share. This poor old '74, I drove it like I hated it. A 750 Holley carb, fender well headers, 15 inch wide tires off a ditch witch, and a cooler of Strohs in the back. This '75 came along a couple years later & was taken better care of. Eventually traded it for a 1953 Harley.

Love those CJs! I can't find a picture of my V8, 4:56 detroit locker 9 inch Ford, T18 '78. It is a fond memory that I got rooked out of about 15 years ago.. It followed a new 6 cylinder CJ7 I bought in '83. Current CJ activity whirls around the '74 CJ5 below... T150 with 232 6 cylinder, and dana 44. Currently sitting on some 33 inch Super Swampers. New windshield and frame on the way. Planning for it to be kind of a pseudo street/trail Jeep. Still needs a good wheel bearing check all round and a good brake overhaul. T18 sitting on the floor waiting for me to kill the T150. Hoping to have a Dana 300 and AMC V8 ready when that happens. Something about spending an afternoon on the creeper with a wrench in my hand is real stress relief therapy for me...

'65 CJ-5, purchased in '67. Added a Buick V-6 in '70, swapped that for a Chev. 327 in the mid '70's, swapped the steel body for fibreglass in those days as well. Two 10 gal. fuel tanks on board. Torsen rear diff, full floating axles, Super T-10 tranny with a 3.44:1 First Gear, full set of S.W. gauges. Baja buckets, 4 point seat belts. Favorite fishing hole at 10,300 feet in Wyoming's Wind River Range. The road in crosses a 11,000 ft. peak. The small block Chev is very tired, BUT, a nice Pace Performance ZZ-4 partial engine sets in the garage. The body sports a One Piece front end. Steering via a GM "assisted" box. Gunzo, yeah, I still have a pair of the 31" x 15"x 15" Goodyear Terra Tires in the garage, mounted on 14"x 15" rims. On the Jeep is a set of Mickey Thompsons, 33 x 10" fronts, 33 x 12" rears. Wheels are Center Line. Still snowing here in Wy and my garage just quite ain't "cozy" enough for the engine swap to take place. It's gonna happen soon, though..... Carl

Carl, been wondering if your great pics would show up here. I have spent a considerable amout of time just staring at them. The red CJ went with me on my first Elk hunting trip in 1978. I simply love the Rockies but the Jeep did not. Drove it to almost 11000 ft. one morning. It struggled more at every switchback & about 200 ft. from the 11155 ft. summit, it simply refused to run. It needed some oxygen & by the time us easterners had climbed the rest of the way up, we needed it too! We had to coast back down quite a ways before the engine would start, the brake smell was pretty bad. A heckuva trip.

FWIW Anyone think it is a sign that not only have no Yuppie Jeeps been posted but we haven't even gotten as far as a CJ7...

Yo Carl! I need a good set of instruments for my CJ. Tell me about your SW gauge set.. You start with a blank panel or insert them into the original? Got any detailed pics? I've got a complete new Painless wiring harness and plan to entirely rewire the little beast and add new gauges soon.
