Big crooked wheelstand + a right foot that refuses to lift = a date with the body shop. Friday was an expensive night at the dragstrip: ....and you guys think guns drain the bank account? -Lee www.singleactions.com

Paint and sheet metal damage all that happened? Ya know the old saying... Ya Lift Ya Loose. At least I understand and it isnt a pic of you on a stretcher or the car being pulled up on a roll back.

Hate to see you scuff you're quarter panel Lee, but you probably know how damn lucky you were. A good friend of mine barrel rolled a well built tube framed Monza a few years back. He was unhurt but the car was a real mess. On a good note, I know that had to be one fun ride. An 8.90 car?

Sucks for sure, but at least you were alright!
Sometimes that right foot can hold too much pride to lift...

If you ain't braking stuff, you ain't going trying hard enough. Bill Then we get an "A" for effort because we break a lot of parts. We run tall cogs though (5.43) so the drivetrain and suspension get shocked hard. Couple that with 2 races a week (sometimes 3) and it's no surprise wrench-time is high. -Lee www.singleactions.com

If you ain't braking stuff, you ain't going trying hard enough. Bill I got tied of spending money only to brake something in 1 or 2 passes so I slowed my car down to 10.0s and set the stop to limit top end speed to under 135 now the engine only sees 6500RPM and runs on 30deg total timing, now I can go a whole year on the same set of valve springs and one set of tires and it will hook in a carwash.here's some pictures. also sold the street rod (first picture).

Thanks. It's a back-half car though and it hooks harder riding on the back tires. Every time we drop the bars I lose 0.05 in 60 ft and ton on the bottom end. I realize it's just bracket racing, but I have a hard time slowing the car up. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Impressive cars I never raced on a track but did allot of street racing back in the late 60's.
One fabricator who helped me make an adapter Chevy vette 4 speed to a Ford motor in a T Bird, used to race at the strip and on the street he had the coolest traffic ticket I had ever seen. The cop that wrote it noted on the ticket that he " left the traffic light at such a high rate of speed his front wheel s where off the ground" Thats a ticket I would have been proud to have.

This is my ride from about 20 years ago. High 9 to low 10 second passes always got my attention, but would have gone faster if my wallet had allowed.

I kinda miss the big wheel stands but with a strut/4link tube car I would need about twice the current HP to lift them more than an inch or 2, It pushes more than lifts giving high 1.3s 60s using a th400 the first shift comes as fast as I can pull the handle after the launch.
