Is it Common for the trigger spring to break on Abilenes?
Ive had my new to me abilene for about a month(one good trip to the range and about 100 rounds through it) and noticed the trigger was loose feeling(not returning or weak return). I got the original box with my gun and there was a spare trigger spring in the box
Well I took out the old spring and compared to the spare. The trigger arm was "bent" back more than the spare , so i tryed to bend(re-ark) it to get the proper "load on the trigger return. Barely gave it pressure to re-ark it and the finger broke off. Must have been stressed and ready to break already.
Put the spare in and it works fine now , free spin cock is solider now.
Ordered two more replacement springs for future.
Just wondered if these trigger springs are a common break on US arms SAs?

Not common, but I've heard of more than one breaking. Sevilles later used beryllium copper for the springs and they were nearly indestructible. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Hey , with this new spring in , free spin cock(click) position is way firmer and more positive. It would skip right past it before
That spring must have been weak/bad when I got the gun
"beryllium copper" ? I wonder if thats what ill get from numrich. Is it the same kind and shape spring?
Ill go back and look at a Seville diagram at numrich
PS, Nope, no parts at Numrich useing the name US Arms Seville
Im told beryllium is a hazardus materal, and dont touch it...?

My first Abilene, a very early one (3-digit SN) had a broken trigger spring when I got it. Helped me get it cheap. Ordered a replacement from Numrich and that took care of business.

Yes, my Riverhead Abilene's trigger return spring was broken when I got it from my brother. He had had it since the late 70's and it broke a few years ago. I wasn't sure what was wrong so sent the gun to Alan Harton, who made a new one for it.
