Under "Walnut & Brass" I showed a photo of my Colt SAA with brass back strap, and a couple were kind enough to ask for more photos of the gun, so here 'tis: The gun is a Colt SAA in .357 Magnum, vintage 1960 or so. It was given to my late son-in-law by his father. My son-in-law had the S&W rear sight added by Memphis gunsmith Bob Mason, along with a ramp front sight made by Bob Mason. I made the one-piece style walnut grips. My son-in-law died in a car wreck in 1979, and my daughter gave the gun back to his dad. About 1983 or so I recognized the gun for sale in a local gun shop, and traded a Colt Python to get the gun. I removed the original ramp front sight and added a Ruger front sight from a Blackhawk. I also had a back strap from a wrecked Colt 1851 Navy and had that fitted, all this work by Bob Mason. I stretched the frame with some heavy loads, bending the frame so that the rear of the cylinder bound against the top strap. I thought I had reduced it to a parts gun, but, again, Bob Mason came to my rescue and re-aligned the frame. Milling out the top strap had weakened the frame slightly. Bob Wright
