Have you considered doing a new book just on the five-shooters?
Forties or forty ones on small frames to as big as they get.
The good and the bad, the possible and the impossible. Obviously the guns by the well known smiths, but also the guns by the lessor, or unknown, by net standards, smiths.
I would buy it at the blink of an eye. RpR

I dredged this up again as I am sure with current events John Taffin has a lot on his mind, and I doubt he would go through pages of threads to see if he missed anything.
Any way I am especially interested in the thread title topic, but I would like to also know just how many smiths are still building the .500 Linebaugh Long.
I know John Linebaugh and Jack Huntington still are but are any others? I sent a Herter's .44 Mag. to Jack to be modified into a .458 five shot, but are any others working on anything besides Rugers?

I'd buy a book written by JT on any subject, even "breakfast cereals through the ages".

Your 5-shot Herters sounds unique. What case did you use for your 458? Not sure what smiths still chamber the 500 Linebaugh Long, but I'll be building one later this year. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Out of curiosity, how long did it take to write your books? I remember Keith writing that he almost refused to do Hell I Was There. And by the way,Id probably buy one on breakfast cereal too.

Out of curiosity, how long did it take to write your books? A LIFETIME OF EXPERIENCE AND 4-6 MONTHS OF TOO HARD WORK.

I did one article & spent 3 hours in this chair. That doesn't count the casting, loading, preparing, driving, shooting, & photo time. Those who do books are of a different bred than I.

Sounds like great books to write that I would buy. brionic I totally agree with you. It is a work that he will do after he finishes my .475 LAR Grizzly. I will use .458 Win. Mag. cartridges a the base. I spoke to him yesterday but phone time takes away from his work time so I told him I sent him a letter in which I asked if-another- Grizzlly can have the breech face opened up to .530 so I could use the same length cartridges in both the Grizzly and Herters.-Same length as .45 Win Mag which the gun was built for. It would reduce cartridge clutter. He had suggested a rimmed cartridge but I already have empty . 458 Win. Mags. that came with another purchase where the seller was just getting rid en-masse. I have a .458 Henry-Pope rifled barrel that was bought too small in diameter (My failure of instead of measuring- asking the person on the other end of the line how much diameter is needed.) for its original purpose so I am going to use six inches of it for the Herter's barrel.
