Can anyone please measure their Abilene Barrel diameter? Whats your Abilene/ seville barrel diameter?
I Just picked up my first Abilene 44 mag with a 4 5/8" barrel.
The barrel is .845 and the base pin end is ground on one side to clear
Looking at photos of other US Arms guns, Im wondering if the 4 5/8" had a thicker barrel than the longer barrel models?

I measure 0.780" at the frame with a straight taper to the muzzle. The gun is a Riverhead 44 mag with a 8-1/2" barrel.

Thanks edk, I thought so
Saw some pictures of other abilene , muzzle photos and they looked like thinner barrels with no stepped crown
Mine is a US Arms No. Haven Conn., AIG, 4 5/8" barrel with .845 at frame, straight no taper, same diameter at muzzle with a machined stepped crown

John Taffin describes one like yours in his "Book of the 44," and gives similar dimensions I believe.

I just bought a 5 1/2" .357mag Abiline yesterday at the gunshow and the barrel measures .780 next to the frame and .725 at the muzzle and it's a Riverhead gun.
