I figured I could drill a hole through whats left of the hammer and run a string through it and tie it to my belt loop. It would cock on drawing or work as a lanyard if I drpped it. I could even tie the trigger back with a bread tie or duct tape, a auto revolver. What could go wrong with that idea. I hope some of you don't think I would really do this, I'm just bored waiting for spring to get here.

That's the ideal. Bob that hammer. Drill a hole in it. Then get you one of them pull chains like's on the ceiling fan and loop the chain thru the hole in the hammer. Makes it easy to cock and no poking when you walk. Golly if ya want to get all high speed n low drag you could use para cord. Para cord would be less weight and no rust. Hey you could use a loop around yer neck at just the right length, now picture this, when you push the pistol out to arm length the loop around your neck cocks the shooter. Then relax the loop just a bit and with that perfect sight picture press the trigger and drop said hammer. The shooter goes back out to full arms length to recock the hammer. You get the picture. Golly it's almost self cocking. Hope that helps. Don't be stealing my ideal I'm already callin the patent office.

Use a bungy cord, it'll be semi automatic that way.

The thought has crossed my mind a few times of bobbing the hammer on at least one of my single actions, I know it might make it danged hard to shoot but in the last few years the hammer keeps wearing a hole in my gut if I just stick it in my pants to get the mail or run next door. They never used to do that but the hmmers must be stretching from continued use. What do you think, To bob or not to bob. You could try using a slip gun hammer of the type that Ed McGivern experimented with. You dont have to use it for slip gun shooting and it's design puts it's spur lower and shorter on the gun. Look online for examples or get a copy of his book "Fast and Fancy Revolver Shooting". Elmer Keith also covers them in his book"Sixguns".

If you did this with the cord or chain then all you would have to do is wear a hat on sideways and wear baggy pants down to your knees to be in. ;D And all this to walk to the mail box The next door part you are on your own.

If you can keep the bungy cord adjusted with the right tension it would go full auto.

Leave the gun as it is. Instead, cut back on the double-cheeseburgers for a couple of months and quit "running" next door. What's the hurry, anyway?

How about just threadin the end of that hammer? Then ya could go down to the home improvement store and pick ya out a cabinet knob an screw it on the end of that hammer. Ya know, a nice round one that wont dig in to your side, or how bout going to the auto supply store and pickin out a real fancy gear shift knob, sumpthin with some bling in it. That would be cool.
