Yeah, a belt is just a rim that does not extend all the way flush with the case head... or is it a rimmed cartridge is just a belted one that does

I know... I know... You guys want me to have a 500 JRH built on a FA... Not going to happen.. My 500 JRH will be a BFR. Not going to measure a 500WE case either... Not today anyway. I'm putting a roll pin in my DW 744VH and making 6.5 Raptor brass for now...

Nah, I was refering to the existance of a belted round in the first place. Not much room for a rim on the FA cylinders on that big a ctg. Wish I had a picture of it. There is more hole left than cylinder!
That JRH must have a small rim. I figure it would certainly work if that was the situation, same rim dia as the belt on the .500 WE.

Doesn't Lee make something he calls a "Bonecrusher" using the standard US magnum belted case? Seems like it is a .458 bore straightwall..

Yes the 500JRH rim is small, it even smaller then the base of the 50AE case(.545 vs .547), here's a picture of the 2 cylinders and a couple of rounds. Seems to me the 50ae might be a very good round for the 83s short cylinder if one can keep the bullets from pulling. We shall see.
