If I wanted a DW 414 I'd get a 357 Supermag and have a new barrel liner made and the cylinder rebored BUT I am a shooter, not a collector.

Hell, if I owned it.....I'd have to shoot it.

Kings6 has planned this out pretty well... Guess I could see the price as a collector gun but... I'd expect an unfired specimen with box, papers, and all the extras that came with the gun. Since I only own shooters I'm converting a 357 Max.

We need to get the Axeman started on milsurps and full automatics.
That'd be fun to watch.

Ha! Did class III when MACs were $165. 03A3s and 1917s were virtually giveaway stuff... Don't worry about me and that stuff. Never got in my blood...

I hope you don't mind the occasional good natured jab. I can't speak for everyone but I enjoy watching your "sets" morph and grow. I admire your tastes and budget and appreciate you allowing us to follow along.

I'm always up for for a good natured chuckle... I think it helps when the deliverer is a proven forum buddy... FWIW I don't need another DW. Just learned that Reeder will do a 414 on my 357 Maximum... A Misfit just posted a pic of a 414 SM Wyoming Hunter. Just for the record the gun had NO etching.. There is a 357 Max sitting in the safe waiting. I may be just about to pull the trigger on having a new custom built!

Is that a "typical price"?

I haven't a clue... Since, last time I looked, it had no takers, I'd think it was high.. An item that is one of 25 and price fair usually goes quick..

I'd have to be a Dan Wesson collector to pay that sort of price. That being said, DW 414s are very rare. Axe's suggestion is a good one if you want to get into a SuperMag. I'm doing a 414 on an El Dorado and hope to finish it this weekend: -Lee www.singleactions.com

For as many 41 nuts as there are I'm suprised there aren't more custom 414 super mags. You can use 41 dies and even shoot 41 mag in them too.

The next custom I start will probably by a 5 1/2" ribbed barrel six shot 414 bisley. A lighter packin' pistol than the 7 1/2" five shot big brother.
