committed to contender Grendel is great 6.5 JDJ is good Photo of 6.5 only for establishing 'normal' Raptor neck I'm into a 30 bore barrel with essentially a 222 rem case blown out to .308 30 Raptor 'improved upon'? Looking for diagnosis of a 'funny' neck Not planning to change it further Wanting to figure out how it got to be like it is Thanks My 6.5 Grendel and 6.5x54 Barrels are both Contenders. Never a problem with either one.

Trapr, This IS a Reeder design, supposedly... Does that 30 Raptor case previously shown look like it fire-formed in a excellent condition chamber?

Was not directly referencing your caliber, just the consideration of having him rechamber or offer something in a non-Reeder caliber, since we were tossing out other caliber considerations.
Didn’t mean to disparage your choice, if my comment was taken that way.

Not at all, sir I appreciate your perspective I'm just curious as to who or how the chamber on this Raptor barrel makes brass that looks like it does? Thanks, Jimmy I really like how it shoots I've gotta come up with some load data that shines!

randominator, I'd like to see a pic of your 30 Raptor cartridge for comparison. My concern is the discrepancy in the length of neck between these Shown is a Nosler 168 gr BTHP on my 30 Raptor and 300BLK These are the early Raptors 240,257, and 6.5. Does that neck look like any of the Raptors that Gary made? It was formed using 204 Ruger brass Thanks in advance for your perspective. Jimmy Here is a photo of my 30 Raptor with a 300 Blackout for comparison.

Thank you, sir Mine looks just like that I suppose the last two 7mm & 30 Raptors had a much different neck from the first three (240, 257, and 6.5) I suppose that Gary changed the neck design on the second batch of Raptor's development.Wonder what the 7mm Raptor looks like? Thanks again, Jimmy

The 7mmJDJ#2 uses 307 Win brass Don Bower called it the 7mm Super Bower:https://bellmtcs.com/donbowerlongrangehandguncourse Essentially a 7x307AI or a rimmed 7-08 Ackley I use trimmed 444 Marlin brass just like I do for my 7mm Bellm The more you decrease the diameter of the neck, the higher the probability of pressure problems. .264 bore for that case capacity became a risk that most did not wish to take. Below is shown my 7mm Bellm setup which also uses ful length 444 brass with the neck and shoulder formed from the 7-08 FL die
