I got a new camera and decided to experiment with settings and lighting using my Virginian Dragoon. One of my cactus' was blooming today and thought I'd see if the two went together very well. I won't say I'm good a picture taking yet, but I'm trying....

It's a Canon Powershot, 8 megapixels. It's pretty small, so it makes it nice to pack around without getting in the way.

Great picture. Your lobillia is about a month ahead of ours in Idaho. I'd hate to have to grab that gun in a hurry,,,things could get a little sticky!!!

Very nice photos. Are the pic's straight off the camera or did you have to make some exposer compensation?

The only thing I did was change the photo setting. On this little camera, you can set it for different situations like 'Beach', 'Snow', 'Foliage', etc.. For these pics, I chose, "Underwater'. Seemed like the normal outdoor setting dulled the color, and this one really brightened them up.
In another thread I started called 'Virginian Dragoons!', I used the 'Aquarium' setting, and it really seemed to bring out the reds.

Lee, I haven't been able to talk myself into shooting it yet. I got it NIB in May, and so far, have just enjoyed looking at it.

Very impressive. One of these days, I'm gonna figure out if my camera will consider taking pics like that. ;D
