Picked Up a Nice Little Mid-Bore

Over the years I have owned two 358 Winchester's, a pre-64 M70 Featherwieght and an early BLR. I sold the Win when it became more valuble than I cared to own and I just never warmed up to the BLR. So for years I kept my eyes open coming close with a Ruger carbine some years ago. I just landed this custom built on a pre-64 M70 action. With a lean 20" barrel it weighs a bit over 7# per the seller. It should arrive in a day or two. Still have dies and proper brass so hope to get it out next week before I head out. It will see Africa next summer.

It was a bargain given the quality of the build. I gave a bit less than what the names charge for a big bore Bisley conversion.

That's a BEAUTY!!! Congrats and have fun in Africa! I took my 358Win 2 years ago and am taking it back again this year!!! The little rifles are a joy to carry and the 358 does just fine over there!

I love everything about that gun, but especially the stock. Nice grain and the inletting looks flawless. The pistol grip is a thing of beauty!

I have a new M-70 Deluxe Featherweight in 270. Boy Winchester is now putting out a quality product. My gun is smoother than some pre 64s I've handled. The only thing different between the Deluxe and the regular Featherweight is $200 for better figured walnut. I am interested in the scope mounted on your rifle. I believe it is a Leupold. Can you tell me if it is and what power it is? It looks like a 1.5 x 5. It looks like it would be perfect on a Featherweight. I have a VX-III in 2.5 x 8 but it is a little bulky compared to the one on your rifle.

It was a steal. The quality of the work is flawless.

The scope is the prior owner's, a 1.5-5X. It will where a 1.75-6X VX-3 when my rings arrive.
