I got a real bright idea last night at about 3am over on the leverguns forum (couldn't sleep s oI got up and did a bit of surfing) As probably everyone here knows I have Stainless blackhawk with a cracked gripframe in 45 Colt, I saw over there that somebody trimmed a 45 Colt case short, stuck a 475 diameter heel type bullet in it adnd they're calling it the 480 Achilles. It seems as though as far as the cylinder goes all that was required to ream the shoulder out of the cylinder, it stayed a six shooter. They also swapped the barrel out for a 475 bore (or I should say they had Reeder do it). I am wondering if I were to buy a Pac-Nor pre thread 475 and order a reamer from Manson if this is something I might reasonably try at home. I have built a couple rifles (including finish reaming the chambers by hand on a few Mausers and Rem 700s), and modified many a shotgun over the years so home gunsmithing doesn't scare me too much, I in fact enjoy it a great deal, but don't have a lathe or a mill. Anyone with some revolver modifying experience care to chime in.

Well, called Pac-Nor yesterday, will have a barrel in a month-month and a half. I can ream that cylinder myself (I think, I am going to try and do it by hand as I have done with rifle chambers), ordered a Frame wrench to ge tthe barrel off from Modway too. Now big question is how far do I crank that new barrel

Just checked out pac nors site, thats pretty cool they offer pre threaded barrels. I applaud your doityourselfism ;D. Mind if I ask how much did they charge for it and what contour and caliber? Wish they offered octagon.

I ordered the standard Blackhawk contour, and the required 475 caliber and think they charged me like 230 out the door, maybe a little more, I was half asleep when I ordered it. Much like the old model Flat top I won on auction arms a few minutes ago
