I've been looking for Elmer Keith's Sixguns, but can't afford a copy at the moment. Turns out our local library has one copy. Wife went ahead and reserved it for me. Good library, great wife.

A great book indeed.
I read Sixguns the first time in it's first print edition, signed by Elmer Keith himself. A young Army officer I served with some thirty-five years ago had ordered one from the old master even earlier. While in Cincinnati back in the late 70's I found a whole stack of (hard back) reprints in a bookstore going for $5 each. Bought one for myself and one for a brother in law. Wish I'd known then what I know now, and I'd have bought the entire inventory.
Glad to know your library has a copy. Even better that you have such a thoughtful wife.

Oh, are you in for a treat... I remember receiving my copy... it was delivered to me at work... I opened the box, gazed upon the volume, cracked it open and read the first page, the preface by Judge Martin. I was hooked. Couldn't put it down... kept it on my lap and glanced down at it every few minutes, throughout the day... reading passages, admiring the pictures, thinking to myself "I can see the light!"... by the way, this was at Disney! Just imagine the potential for histrionics.
Enjoy!

Yeah, I still like going to the Library too. But its kinda funny, they have books on hand on all manner of subjects, many, you'd not want your kids to read until well into adulthood themselves. The occults, horrendous murders,etc.. Yet whenever I ask for a book to do with shooting or guns, I get a funny look, and a "we'll have to order that". Odd, when I get the book 2-3 weeks later, most always shows it came from an Oklahoma library. Strange ? steve b

MB, thank you for your generous offer.
I can't wait to start reading.
Our local library is great. My wife and daughter are regulars there and they often have discounts and free passes to museums in the area.

I have been fortunate enough to win one of MB's book giveaways. He's one of the good guys in this world and he will undoubtedly be rewarded for such generosity and kindness... I tip my hat and my glass to you "Mad One".

Alinct, Once you have digested Sixguns, look for a copy of Hell I Was There. It's a great book too. Frank
