I just bought a Ruger Gunsite Scout. I'm flat out gonna love this rifle! One question. Funds are tight and I have a new Leopold M8 2x20 EER scope on hand. Anyone running this on a scout set-up, and if so,how does it work for you?
Thanks, Skip

Skip, I guess I'm out of the loop. You're the first guy I have heard from that has one of these cool shooters in your hands. How long have you had it? Where did you buy it and are there any more?
Thanks Zeke

Just got it Saturday. Autry's Armory in Fayetteville,Ga. (www.autrysarmory.com). They had JUST gotten it in and I bought it within three minutes w/o ever putting it down. I loved it the minute I saw it on Rugers announcement, but seeing it in person and holding it clinched the deal. I've not even shot it yet, but hope to change that soon.

skipper49,
Your M8 should work fine as that is one of the scopes the early scout projects used before Burris and Leupold came out with dedicated "scout" scopes. Mount it and shoot with it until you decide which scope/optic you want to save up for, it should work fine. (The only issue is that the eye relief might be too long. If that's the case, you can make due until the new scope arrives to replace it.)
Congrats on the new rifle and let us know how it shoots!!!

Thanks. I'll try it and see how it works. I want some QD rings for it, and that won't be a waste cause if I have to change scopes, the same rings will still work. The only question I have is how hard it will be for this old dog to get used to (and like) the scout scope setup. If it doesn't do it for me I can always use conventional scope setup, but would have to ditch the rear sight and that would be a shame.
Thanks, Skip

"Get thee behind me Satan", uh,I mean Boge ;D What a rig! If I sold my car and my truck, I still couldn't pay cash for that scope! AND, I'd have to walk to work. I'd already seen on one of the Ruger forums,I think, where Jeff said that thing is $3200. Oh, but what a rig.

Hey Boge, I just realized that you may have been pointing those rings out to me. That's what I'm looking for. Are they Warnes?

Does any one know if the magazines for this rifle are a new design or are they already in use in another weapon.
