Got home yesterday afternoon from business, got a call from a pal who has a feral hog problem. We spent afternoon and early evening sitting in a freezing stand... the hogs refused to oblige, unfortunately. They bedded down early as they sensed the coming snow... in gulf coast Texas. (Must be that global warming.) Walked back to the truck in the dark as snow fell on us... best I've felt in a long time. Going back next week! Gonna make some bacon.

"...best I've felt in a long time." Heck, that's not an unsuccessful outing!

Git some dawgs ! There has been a rumor of feral hogs in my county. I haven't been able to pin them down. Supposed to be contained on a couple of large private tracks of farm. Seems they are enjoying them all by theirselves. Darn. steve b

"...best I've felt in a long time." Heck, that's not an unsuccessful outing! My thoughts exactly! No quality time in the field is "unsuccessful". Good luck next week!

My pal was disappointed... I told him thats why its called "huntin". If it were a sure thing we'd call it "shootin". Amazing the things that run through your mind in a stand as you sit quietly and watch the light begin to fail. Glorious. I've been putting off hunting for far too long.

I have never had an unsuccesful hunting or fishing trip. May not have nabbed anything but successful none the less.

I get some of my best sleeping done when I go hunting. I like to hunt the morning...come back to camp for a big breakfast, then back to the woods for a late afternoon nap!
