I would pay $50 more for a Leupold in a heartbeat based on the customer service experiences posted here. Good customer service is difficult to put a price tag on. When people are treated right when we have a problem with a product, it makes for repeat customers. A satisfied customer MAY promote a company or product but a dissatisfied customer WILL denegrate a company or product. I think it is human nature to spread the word if we feel slighted or ill served and less motivated to speak up if we are content with a product or service. I once ordered a leather bomber jacket from LL Bean. The knit cuff had a small hole in it. I called customer service and the rep was very apologetic. She told me to wear the jacket until a new one arrived and then put it in the box the new one came in. She then said to call them back for a time it would be convenient for UPS to come pick up the box. Are you kidding me? I was blown away by the excellent treatment and have been a loyal customer ever since. When you hear of Springfield Armory doing a lot more than what was necessary to make a repair you think about that when buying one of their products. A customer had a faulty barrel on a GI model and sent the gun prepaid by SA both ways. Springfield did not replace the barrel with a like product. They fit a match barrel and bushing instead. Maybe a GI barrel wasn't available. Who knows? But rather than making the customer wait they used a more expensive barrel and bushing. Now here I am repeating this example. The good PR Springfield got for treating the customer with service above and beyond what was necessary is priceless. Every time I consider a new 1911, I will remember that gun owner's experience. The only downside is good products from companies with excellent customer service don't last long in the display case and they are harder to come by. $50 more for a Leupold vs a Burris, I wouldn't think twice about it. The Leupold would be going home with me based on the experiences of the members here.
