am looking at a nicely fettled 1911 with a ramped/fitted stainless barrel. i have a barsto std barrel in a wilson commander, but no experience with ramped barrels. any reason to prefer or stay away from same, given it's properly assembled? any better support for case? the rest of the gun has everything i'd like to see on a well done 1911 5" barrel, but need to know more about ramping-anyone with experience with both? thanks.

IMHO the ramped barrel is unnecessary for a 45 ACP 1911... The exception may be the alloy frame 1911. Story changes for the 38 Super and 10mm 1911.

i'm shooting 200gr swc at about 850fps or so for idpa, so this would be it's std diet. nothing too high pressure and seldom, if ever, jacketed bullets. i've got more serious medicine, should the need arise. just want to be assured that, if properly fit up, feeding issues should not be a problem.
