Why can't they make a 4" barrel gun? They are making 6" barrel guns. Wonder if it would help to call Smith, and tell them that alot of people would buy them?

Funny I thought they did, at least they do runs of them fairly often. My 25-13 that I grabbed a few years ago but I have seen them on the shelf since then in blue and stainless...

Razor, like Fowler said they are still making mountain guns in 45 Colt in stainless as well as blue off and on,but there are plenty around new and used in both.

Here's a MG with FO sight, chamber throats opened to .4525" (for shooting cast bullets) and trigger work. It's a favorite for carrying at the ranch.

Seems like every one assumed the OP was about the 25-5 and later 45 Colt offerings. To me the Model 25 means the 1955 in 45 ACP. Smith never made a blue steel Mountain Gun chambered for the ACP/AR rounds so I had my gun smith build one from a Model 25-2 that had been re-barreled with an old 1950 tapered barrel. If I was going to write to Smith requesting they make a different barrel length it would be my favorite for the N-frames, 5". Had one of those built from a less that collector grade pre-25 (45 Cal Model of 1955). This one is going to see some competition in ICOR matches. Dave

Nice, Dave. Very practical guns, and I'll bet you will enjoy shooting that 5".
