It sounds like Dustin will be making two of those supergrade vaqueros this year. When I talked to him 6-7 months ago about his contribution to "The Quest' and I told him to use his imagination on what to build that he felt would represent his highest level of work he told me about the damascus barrel idea with special grip material so I also said go for it and started sending deposits. I don't know what his time frames are for these two guns but I bet they go through the process at about the same time. I am afraid you are right, it will shoot the 2011 custom budget for sure. He sounded excited about the projects and the latitude he was being given atleast from this end, to create something unique and different. King6/ Same here I just ask Questions to get it in my minds eye. I asked him about the use of a Keith #5 style lever cylinder pin I believe this has some merit. However we will wait and see. He is a real artist/smith in his own right. Much finer finish and attention to detail then his father is. I have two of John L. .500/bisley bhk, vaquero. One of Dustins. Thus far. Cheers and Merry Christmas to all!

It will be interesting to see what he turns out. I have one of his dad's 475's that I sent back to John a couple of months ago along with a brass bisley gripframe that he was going to fit to the gun. When he is done, it goes to Dustin for a set of grips. I told Dustin I wanted the most drop dead gorgeous set of French walnut he had available. Which reminds me, I need to call John and see if he as made any progress on the job yet.

Hey ! We ain't done with 2010 yet ! Got a .44psec Vaquero Sheriffs model heading thisa'way from Lipsey's right now. Maybe tommorrow. Gotta go downstairs and make sure there aren't any .44spec cases sitting around empty. 2011 is gonna start off with a holster or two, more brass, another 500 bulllets, etc.. Wife is threatening to buy more purses, I just don't get it. steve b

We had a gun show up here in "frozen tundra" country and I bought an unfired NIB 6 1/2"Smith Mod 24-3. today. It sat on a collectors shelf for the last 20 some years and what troubles me is that there are other unfired Smiths in that collection.....a Mod 66, Mod 14, Mod 27......stuff I'd like to have and I asked myself....What would Axehandle do? ?? At that point I felt a little giddy and lightheaded because.....While I fell a little (?) behind Axe in gun acquisitions in 2010.....I MIGHT temporarily be ahead for calender 2011.
