I saw a guy buy a $50 US Buffalo gold coin for $1400 yesterday. O.K. then, I guess it depends on what coin one is talking about. Kind of confusing since the denominations stamped on the modern bullion coins mean squat.

All I care about is how much gold is in this or that. It has never made sense to me that modern coins with the same amount of gold in them can go for such different amounts, either. Guess that is why I stick with guns. I understand them.

Well, this is a lot off topic, but what the heck.... Back when a double eagle was currency, it was really worth $20 since there was a gold standard backing it up. With these U.S. Mint bullion coins, the monetary value stamped on them is like the "cash redemption value" printed on a coupon. You can actually spend that "$50" gold piece as $50 legal tender if you want to

What makes my head spin is why several different, modern minted coins with 1 oz (or whatever) gold in them have different values. Gold is gold to me, but I'm not a coin guy.

Just when I was preparing to purchase a 45 New Vaquero in stainless with a 5.5"" bbl and send it off to a smith to have a S&W rear sight installed and a Stroh front sight added so I could have a Ruger that approximated a NF.
Going to have to check out one of the new NFs. Thanks for the news.
