Bile, just buy that dad-gummed sixgun or whatever you want to call it and go have some fun already! I plan on buying it. I was just being fish-e-shish in my last reply. I have been going back and forth for a couple years now about buying USFA SA replica of Colt's SAA (better?) or the Ruger New Vaquero in, either in 45 Colt, while at the same time keeping my eye on the USFA SA we're talking about. I finally concluded that I need to buy them both, beginning with the USFA. Thanks guys, the replies to this thread helped me sort out whether or not the gun in question was a 100% genuine USFA, made in the USA, USFA SA replica of the fine Colt SAA (...if a wood chuck could chuck wood... ). Thanks.

oh boy, if we're going to argue silly things like this, we might go back to the endless 45 Colt vs 45 Long Colt debate. trademark infringement vs common-usage words: does anyone here ever call a facial tissue a Kleenex even if its made by someone other than that trademark holder? or use the term jello, or xerox-copy, bundt cake, or teflon-coated, or coke when you just want a cola?... all are technically incorrect to use, but come on, even when talking among friends? i just read that Facebook is trying to register the word "Face" as their Trademark alone, no kidding techcrunch.com/2010/08/26/trademark-face/i guess i'm with jamesjames on this one. for those interested in being perfectly correct, here's some rules: www.chillingeffects.org/trademark/faq.cgien.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trademark;-)

I guess I just never thought it silly that when someone ask me what load I would suggest for them to start handloading for there new SAA chambered in 45 Colt and I would suggest a .454 dia. bullet with the lead being towards the softer end of the hardness scale. If it was a USFA SA I would suggest a .452 dia. bullet and not worry about the hardness so much. I would hate to sell someone a set of grips and advertise them as SAA grips only to have them wanting to return them because they dont fit there USFA SA has a different locator than a SAA or for that matter myself receive USFA SA grips for my SAA.

The Colt SAA was the Single Action Army because it was US Army issue. So, it is ALWAYS in .45 Colt caliber and 7.5 inch barrel, the only configuration supplied as GI issue. Jayhawker Bob

all good points buddy!
hey rep, i'm not looking for a fight. i understand your point and you may be technically correct, but that doesn't mean everyone is as specific as you are. i worry that when someone says "SAA", what they mean may not be exactly what others understand them to mean. because one person chooses to give a particular meaning to a word, other may not. that is the real world. i use the term "SAA" generically, yet like you, when specifics are needed, more info is also needed.
we're on the same page. we're just discussing the problems involved in the things we love. that's the joys and wonderful thing about SA Forums.

ronegg: That is a fine looking sixgun. Does it shoot well and, how does it compare to the Uberti and current USFA SAA replicas? Thanks.

I have two full blue USFA's, or technically, one early USPFA and one year-old USFA 12/22. IMHO, the late model gun is much better fit and finished and is also much better on the inside. Although the early .45 is much better than any Italian replica and was certainly worth the $420 I paid for it, with two C.O.W.S. leather rigs.
