HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARINES ! There is no such thing as an ex marine. I know a few. My Dad ran barges up onto beaches thru-out the Pacific. His saddest memories were of dropping a load, getting another and coming in to find half of the last load dead there on the beach and having to run the barge up over them. No choice, other barges to either side. "those brave young men", he called them. Again, today, America's biggest export, is her young. GOD Bless them. steve b

Trouble is brewing. It can be felt throughout the colonies.... Nov. 10, 1775. Tun Tavern, in Philadelphia: a group of adventurers and rough and tumble men gather to form the Continental Marines, in hopes that there will soon be a Continental Navy. How could they have known what lay ahead, for themselves and those who would follow? Barbary pirates, Mexico, Harpers Ferry, Cuba, Nicaragua, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Salvador, Bellau Wood, Pearl Harbor, Tarawa, Guadalcanal, Saipan, Iwo Jima, the Chosin Reservoir, Hue, Khe Sanh, Phu Bai, Lebanon, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, on hundreds of ships and a thousand other places in a thousand other battles. God Bless the United States Marines.

One of my mentors was at Chosin. Took a while before we talked about that.
Let's drink to the stout hearted men, let's drink to the salt of the earth.

Boge I was corrected rather hashly recently when I said " EX- Marine" Former Marine or Retired BUT not EX Was told that holds a very neg conotation. FWIW. Blessings on our Troops.
