Here are a couple of pics of critters I took with my .45 Blackhawk. It is topped with a M8-2X Leupold in Leupold mounts. My pet load shoots a 300XTP 1121fps very consistently. The gun is by far the most accurate Ruger .45 I have seen. This one has .452" throats on the cylinder and the bore is exactly .452". It averages 1.5" 3 shot groups at 100 yards with a best of 1.125" at 100 yards. Hope you like it. reflex264 This was the #4 Corsican Ram by handgun in 2000. I shot it after a 5 hour stalk (crawl) at 65 yards A pretty nice 8pt. No monster but still a trophy with a pistol. 100 yard group with the .45

Congratulations Reflex. That's a fine shooting sixgun. You obviously handle it well.

Lets see - you take a FINE revolver, add a scope to properly realize it's potential, and put it in the hand of a real shooter who also knows how to hunt. SUCCESS!! Who wudda thought?(:>))
Congratulations on a job well done, sir!!

The 45 colt is a very under rated caliber by many, I've used it on 4 elk & several deer with great results. Also that 300 gr bullet you're using seems to work for quite a few handgunners. Now, about that 5 hour crawl.... I'd have to stop & eat twice!!

We spotted the sheep at 6:30AM from the driveway of the place I hunted. They were about 400 yards away from us up a steep hill. We moved carefully up to a big oak tree within 50 yards of the sheep. This was sage grass and briars. There was a opening in the brush around the base of the tree. We started accross it at about 7:30AM. One ewe stuck her head into the opening and saw us. She let out a bleat that told the rest of them to run. We spent the next 3.5 hours trying to get within range. They were as challenging as any deer I have shot. reflex264

Sounds a bit like when I met my ex-wife. Unfortunately, I was successful as well.

This one is a 4 5/8". It will break 1300fps with a 300gr xtp using a max load of 296 or H110. reflex264

Not too shabby for an obsolete old Mil-surp cartridge. Nice hunt as well.
