<Andy Rooney> Ever wonder why Rugers without transfer bars never have transfer bar problems? </Andy Rooney>

I have one and love it. Initialy the base pin wanted to slide but after just a little shooting it settled in and no more problems. reflex264

Shot my Lipsey Ruger Bisley flattop 4 5/8" .44 special today for the first time. Wow! Great accuracy of course 100% reliable and beautiful fit and finish along with ergonamic Bisley grips. What's not to like? Dennis

I'm gonna have to come down with John. I have dozens of new Rugers and my take is that they're a a good bit better than the older versions (and, yes, I have a slew...that's a Southernism...of the old ones, too). My 4 Flattops have been excellent guns. Of course, I routinely replace the base pins, creature of habit that I am. I'm currently shooting SASS with 2 out if the box .357 Vaqueros (heck, with the original base pins). And have been for 6 months.
I am uncomfortable with the "everybody knows these are crap" meme. There are very few people whose "take" on a gun I respect and value, and John Taffin and Jeff Quinn are 2 of them. Most of the Internet "complaints" are just noise.
In the interest of full disclosure, Ruger does sponsor a couple of my shows. Thankfully LOTS of companies sponsor my shows, and all of them know I am not for sale.

After reading an article about 1911s by JT I bought a stainless Springfield Milspec. The trigger was 8 lbs so I called SA customer service. The personable woman I dealt with told me to wait a few minutes and she would send me a e-mail with a Fed Ex Overnight shipping label as an attachment to download. She said that the gun was insured by SA and not to buy any additional insurance. I took the package with the gun packed inside along with the downloaded sticker to a Fed Ex office and off it went, no muss no fuss. I paid for an action job to get the trigger down to 4 lbs as 5-6 lbs was spec. The gun was back in 3 weeks, again SA paid for shipping. The trigger breaks like a glass rod at 4 lbs on the button and the action is as slick as snail slime. If anything goes wrong with that gun that is SA's fault, SA will take care of it. That is why the SA custom shop will do any work I want done. The work is guaranteed just like the rest of the gun. Any guess what brand I will buy when I want another 1911? Any company can have a product go out the door that shouldn't have. It is how they handle the problem that sets an excellent company apart from the rest. I believe that if Ruger sent out a bad product, they should pay for shipping both ways and for the repair. It it is customer misuse or abuse then it is on the customer which is only right. Most of my Rugers have been purchased through Davidsnons and are guaranteed if anything is wrong. I may have gotten a better price somewhere else but the guarantee is reassuring.
