I searched this board but could not find this topic: Michael McIntosh passed away in August 2010 from complications with pneumonia. He was one of my favorite writers and my copies of his books are weekly reads and half-worn out from thumbing through. Mr. McIntosh was only 64 and will be greatly missed by this shotgunner... Rest in Peace Mr. McIntosh; I hope you are hunting endless quail with your buds...
Regards,

One of my favorite writers. Sad to hear. There was a nice article in Shooting Sportsman I believe about his passing.

Sadly, I missed hearing this sooner too. Re-read his book on gunning for grouse, just before every grouse season. steve b

That is sad news indeed! I think I have read all of his books with the exception of Shotguns & Shooting III. I have enjoyed them all. I wish I had the book at my fingertips so I could quote it. There is a line in one of them about a high energy hunting dog with the manners of David Niven, if you have read it you will know the line I am writing about. A lawyer friend, whose livelyhood was based on his ability to be a wordsmith thought that it was the best descriptive line he had ever read in an outddor related book! And I concurr. His work with David Trevallion on the workings of a doublegun will remain a reference point for many enthusiasts of the shotgun for many, many years. The few photos that I have seen of him in the field with a dog, a side by side, a pipe, a smile and a beard shall remain etched in my mind's eye of how the sporting life should be.
